Dunmall, Rogers & Gibbs - Live At The Quaker Center

care of my friend, Sisco

redds, bass & guitar

on Dunmall's own label so mine isn't the only CD-R!!!

first impressions similar to Gary's - this one is great!

sounds like it is Roger's custon 5-string acoustic bass - and it is recorded way up front - and I love the acoustic guitar from Gibbs

Dunmall often in a softer mood - gorgeous soprano playing towards the beginning

more later

and then to the surprise Dunmall disc with the man at the kit - didn't know it existed.......

thanks again, gary

this isn't a great disc - this just a bit more than that - and yes - one can sometimes know the first time through

when the pipes come in at around the 27 minute mark the stakes grow higher

how great is Dunmal here? like from another realm - from another world - and as one note is held - the other return - Rogers on the bow making all of his marvelous sounds - Dunmall's note finally turns into a buzz - and then he is gone,,,,,,,

for those who don't know and/or don't think at all

think and know something, for once

Glad you dig it, Steve. That trio performance might be my favorite Dunmall recording of all.

Steve, knowing you're a big fan of Paul's, did you catch my interview with him in Cadence a few months back?

A first name wouldn't hurt either.

He plays electric, too. He's on several other Dunmall records in my stacks.

Glad you like this one, Steve. I hesitated for a minute because I know you don't normally like records without drummers, but it's such a good one I sent it anyway.

Saw Dunmall and Rogers with Hamid Drake in May this year - nice intimate room, front row central - magnificent - and what an amazing sound he makes with the bagpipes.

There's a disc due out 11th October - Love, Warmth and Compassion on FMR - recorded the day before I saw them and with Philip Gibbs added. I think it must be a studio date as the recording date is between the first two gigs of the tour. They were recording on the night I saw them as well, though.

Dunmall live in high energy mode was an experience and a half, and so was Drake, including a stunning 5+ minute frame drum solo.
