Son of Blues Lyrics

The first thread seems to have gone into the archives. I just now got this down, and it seemed wrong not to share it. A collaboration amongst Dave Frishberg, Norman Kahn and Al Cohn:

Can’t take you nowhere

You knock back the schnapps
You talk back to cops
You walk in a room and conversation stops
I can’t take you nowhere
No I can’t take you nowhere
You stagger you sag
You’re half in the bag
One glass of beer and you’re a total drag

I can’t take you nowhere
No I can’t take you nowhere
I buy three or four
You mooch plenty more
The check comes around and you are out the door
I can’t take you nowhere
No I can’t take you nowhere

You’re loud and you’re lewd
You tend toward the crude
My friends are disgusted with your attitude
I can’t take you nowhere
No I can’t take you nowhere
You gripe and you groan
You grouse and you moan
You called Honolulu on my telephone

I can’t take you nowhere
No I can’t take you nowhere
I hear people say
You don’t go away
You drop by for breakfast and you stay all day
I can’t take you nowhere
No I can’t take you nowhere

I think I started this thread...but with the blues...Who Cares? !!!

Best blues line...So many to pick from...BUT OK...Just back from shopping in Copenhagen ...for food...

BB King...

" I think I'll give up living ...and go shoping instead"

OK, the way I feel tonight...God , I Hate shopping...! But the food is good....Or Otis Rush ..."Some of my best friends are Millioneers...I'm down here in misery" A classic - Otis/Cobra.

This thread could run and run !...Anything by Mose Allison?....Besta RC
