Really RBS? Damn, if you think so...you, Mr. Slow to Judge 'n' all. I bet you feel the same way even after the debate.

Hey, Monte, you got to admit it was sort of tongue-in-cheek.

Hahaha! You are learning well from these debates, my friend.
I'm going to miss these ninety minute exchanges. They have saved me money in sleeping pills.

You're on fire tonight, RBS.
I got the shivers just now watching John Kerry declaim about his defense of Constitutional rights when he was asked about abortion. "Bob," he says, "I will never relent in my defense of the Constitutional rights of Americans. Be that the First Amendment, or the Second Amendment, or..." (and here he reaches for which amendment to the Constitution lays out the right of an American to kill babies in the womb) "Or abortion, which I believe is a Constitutional right."
Uh huh.
You can believe in the right of parents to kill their unborn, but you can't find it in the Constitution. Why the confusion?

Man. this debate blows chunks. Can we pool money and hire someone to slap the hell out of Bob Schieffer in his sleep tonight?

My buddy, my boy, the flesh of my flesh, is such a good little dude. He sleeps from 8 o'clock pm til 9 o'clock am every night without complaint. He naps twice in the day. And unless he bumps his head or you take something from his little grasp (a valuable book, a breakable glass, a dangerous choke hazard, the remote control), he never cries.
I'm the luckiest dad in the world. Plus he can already talk! You say to him "luh luh luh luh" and he will repeat, "luh blah blew blau blee."
What a genius!

Seriously, I thought this debate was freaking useless, way more than the others. crawjo, you hated Lehrer in the first one - but surely you have to think Schieffer was much worse. Urgh. His initials aren't BS for nothing, I guess.

That's really rare. I don't know how you did it, Monte. We didn't get a good night's sleep for 2 years. But I beg to differ. I'M the luckiest Dad in the world!

My son was sleeping through the night when he was five weeks old.
It's a rightwing thing, RBS.
He didn't cry excessively either. Even when he was teething.
And to this day, he is exceptionally polite in public. People tell us all the time "he's so well behaved". And he is. Never raises hell, or makes a bunch of noise, always say's "thank you", but of course, we pay for it once he's home. But he IS a really good kid.

Yeah, like it was my dad's birthday tonight so we all went out to a schmancy restaurant and my boy, who we call Dubbya, was with us. Two hours of pasta course, salad, main dish, dessert. And not a peep from the boy. Just charming interchange.
It must be a rightwing thing.

Getting your baby drunk on moonshine so he passes out and falls asleep does not count as "sleeping through the night," Dolan.

My guess was going to be that special right-wing masking tape.

Naw. It's not a right wing thing. My daughter has always slept the night through.
Hey, question. Why are there three annoying threads about this fucking debate and nobody has anything to say except to chat about offspring?
I am about to watch it I guess I will see why.

Nah, it's not a right-wing thing. It's a phase. Enjoy it while it lasts, because before you know it he'll be two. And then, watch out.

My daughter is in her twos and she is cuter than ever. I think she may be saving all her pain-in-the-assness for her teenage years.
And as far as the debate:
It was pretty much the same shit. These guys sure don't mind repeating themselves.
What was that stupid flu vaccine question? I have never gotten a flu shot and I never will. God damn it there are much worse problems in this country than a fucking flu shot.
Another stupid question: will we ever be safe again? The question just lets open the space for both Kerry and Bush to say whatever the fuck the want. It is not a good question to get down to the nitty gritty with.
I did want to hear whether Bush and Kerry thought Homosexuality was a choice or not, and here I think Bush lost points because he would not touch that territory. He also avoided answering whether he wanted Roe vs Wade overturned. But he sure is a far cry from the president who "supports choice" as he claimed he would be last election.
I can't wait for this damn thing to be over. I am really tired of the campaign.
Bush made some new grammar mistakes. system-íc instead of systemic, classic! There was another that stood out, and Kerry even laughed at, but I'm too tired to remember; it involved his habit of omitting conjunctions in his cave man monkey kinda way.

Jared, you sound like some of our rightwingers. Try to muster a little empathy for people who aren't like you. Flu shots can save the lives of those in high-risk populations, and the demand for them, "justifiable" or not, is going through the roof. The demanders are voters.

Hm, bn, defending this question, or just commenting on Jared's snideness? Cuz man, that was a waste of a question in a wasteland of questions. The candidates talking about what amounts to some laboratory and procedural goofs? Hey, look, Bush recommends healthy people avoid them. Deep stuff, Bob!
Gads, these questions were so unconscionably lame. That stupid loser Schieffer. Grr.
Tangentially, why did no moderators in the debates ever stop Kerry from stealing question time to continue a previous question issue?
I can't quite figure out why I reacted so differently from the CW about these debates. Thought Bush stylistically dominated the first (except for the "off-camera" shots), thought Kerry killed in the second, and thought the third was a magnitude worse than the others.
I think Bush took something before this last debate, though. Something happy. He was constantly battling this smirk at every second, and I half expected him to start bouncing up and down like a pogo stick eventually.

Bush is down to rallying the base and playing on fear to suppress the middle. The tide is going the other way. I predict Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Ohio all go Kerry.

I don't think there was a clear winner from this debate, but the two candidates approaches were delineated.
Faith vs. Reason: it's America's choice!

I especially liked when he did this as he jumbled his words, very convincing.
