Iraq and Crime Rate
Yesterday, the local paper reported that another 600 VT National Guard guys got their orders to activate and saddle up, a crack armored outfit. That will bring the total (not counting regular forces on active duty, which number I don't know) to 1250, or more than one person per thousand of state population, men, women and children.
In short, Vermonters today stand a statistically much, much better chance of finding themselves in Iraq than of being the victim of any kind of crime here, violent or nonviolent.
Amazing.
