KENNY BURRELL TO RECORD LIVE SOLO ALBUM AT BOSTON COURT

PASADENA, Calif., October 18, 2004 – Kenny Burrell, one of the legendary giants of jazz, will record a live solo CD during two performances, 3 p.m., Nov. 6 and 8 p.m. Nov. 7, in the Marjorie Branson Performance Space at Boston Court, 70 N. Mentor Ave, Pasadena.

“We’re so delighted to have Kenny, one of the most respected jazz guitarists in the world, not only perform at Boston Court, but do the first live recording at the Branson. The room’s superb acoustics will be used to great advantage, which is one of the reasons Kenny chose our venue for his recording,” said Mimi Champlin, producer and music talent coordinator for Zebulon Projects, which produces musical events at Boston Court.

Burrell has recorded more than ninety albums, many of which have received critical acclaim. He has been the recipient of many awards and has been voted "Best Guitarist" numerous times by music fans and critics worldwide. Recently he received this honor for the second time from the Jazz Times International Readers Poll.

"Master instrumentalist and composer," "virtuoso," "historic figure of American guitar." "Ellington's favorite guitar player" - this is a typical sampling of the critical praise routinely bestowed on Burrell.

Tickets are $30 and are available online at bostoncourt.com. Senior and student discounts are also available. Zebulon Projects is headed by raconteur and philanthropist Z. Clark Branson, who financed the Boston Court performing arts complex, which also includes a state-of-the-art 99-seat theatre.

Agree with David...there are few jazz guitarists around (from the 50s/60s) that you can pick up on and recognise . Jimmy R., Wes, Jim Hall, Kenny B. Grant Green... Kenny's album with Ray Charles and Milt Jackson will maybe one day be more appreciated?
