Les Paul on the Today show

Guitar legend Les Paul will be the subject of a feature profile by NBC News' "Today" National Correspondent Jamie Gangel Thursday, October 21, 2004 in the 8:30 AM 1/2 hour (check your local listings for broadcast station).

Les Paul is a living legend and an icon of the music world. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received multiple Grammy Awards, pioneered the modern electric guitar and invented numerous recording techniques. Les has influenced countless musicians and guitarists and is hailed as "The Father Of The Electric Guitar".

I like to think how Les Paul changed the world and how dramatic that was. is there a nation, a tv or radio station, that hasnt been effected by Les Paul. how he changed music is huge.

I saw the profile this morning. It was pretty awesome. Nearly ninety years old, so humble and so groovin. It was also pretty cool they interviewed Jimmy Page and Peter Frampton and BB King about Les Paul. BB King said he would give his soul to play like Les Paul

Did you forget something?

Les Paul is a charismatic guy, but he's also a shameless self-promoter with no formal technical background, more of a tinkerer than an inventor. He was a fine guitarist, though.
