Bill Clinton is back!!!!

Just saw Bill Clinton on stage and learned that he will be making a speech on Monday in Phillidelphia, in support of John Kerry. No other announcements of further speeches, but this is good news.
Clinton looks healthier than I do.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If there were no term limits on being elected President, as there are none here for being elected Prime Minister, Bush wouldn't have stood a chance in 2000, or now. Say what you like about him, Clinton is a hell-damner of a speaker and has that "charisma" that John Kerry will never have, no matter how good a candidate he is.
Sure, it's surface charm, but it sure does rev up the folks.

Here it comes: "Bill Clinton superhumanly rises from his sick bed to campaign for John Kerry." Astonished, sustained applause.

No miracle is claimed.

However, a hypothetical:

If there were no term limits for serving as President, as many times as the people are willing to elect someone, do you honestly think that George W Bush would be President today??

Further, if that were not possible, do you think that if Al Gore had rode on Clinton's coat-tails in 2000, instead of listening to his advisors, that George W Bush would be President today??

People may like George Bush, because he's cultivated an "I'm just like you" image. But, stacked against Clinton, he is just an annoying rube.

Whatever it takes to get Gomer Bush out of office is ok by me! Hell, I'd vote for Monica's dress.

If that dress could talk, it would probably be brighter and more interesting to listen to than anything George W Bush has said so far.

OK, Ron. I'll check my mail.

I think the lack of Clinton's presence on the campaign trail has hurt Kerry. If you think about it, who else can bring out the masses for the Dems? Carter is honorable but not exciting. The obligatory photo op with Jesse Jackson is just a cover-your-ass move to secure the black vote that won't play on a state-by-state basis. Gore, Mondale, Dukakis all have the stench of a loser, although Gore is good for taking pot shots from the peanut gallery.

Obama could still draw a crowd but he's busy securing his own election, and Hillary got no post-convention bounce at all. I don't think people will be swayed by Dean, Gephardt, or Kucinich.

So here's hoping Clinton can get people excited. I understand that in addition to appearing in PA, he's going to be taping a phone message that will be sent to Dems around the country.

Obama is so far ahead that he's released his campaign's volunteers and is campaigning for candidates for Congress in nearby states. Dean is still received with wild enthusiasm by members of "the base."

Clinton does have among the most highly developed oratorical skills of any politician in recent history. You could almost say that oral ability is an obsession for him. He gives good speech!

Maybe Clinton's being in Kerry's corner, rallying the Dems will make a difference, maybe it's too late.
But, this Presidential Election is so close, that his appearing and making speeches on Kerry's behalf can't hurt.
Last election, Bush barely squeaked by, some say he really didn't, when running against Gore, without Clinton in the tent.
Much as I liked Gore, he should have set aside the misgivings he had about Clinton's private life and capitalized on the sheer power of Clinton's personality.
Like it or not, depending which side you're on, Clinton is a larger-than-life force, who, I think should have been asked to support Gore in his run for President.
With just two weeks before the Election, this may be the push that Kerry needs.
Unlike Ms Cheney, I think that Kerry is "a good man". I get really bad vibes from Dick Cheney. But, he's nothing, compared to Bush, who, underneath that "jes folks" exterior is far more dangerous to the country, IMO, than any President, even Nixon, in my recent memory. He's scary.

patricia,

Shrub is not just scary, he is insane.

At least if the definition of insanity is taking the same actions over and over again expecting different results.

Even many in his party suspect this, but their partisanship precludes them from saying anything. Check out the lead article in last Sunday's NYT Magazine.

The Kerry folks should send Slick Wille to the large urban centers of those key battle ground states. There has not been a President admired by the Black commuity as Clinton since Kennedy. With the race as close as it is the Black vote could make the difference.Clinton could inspire a lot of Black folk to come out to vote.Wisconsin for example 90% of all Black people that live in Wisconsin reside in Milwaukee.A large turn out of Pro-Kerry Black votes could swing that state to him .peace and all that.

You're right about that, HL. One big factor that could lead to a huge turnout in the city is Gwen Moore's bid to take the retiring Gerry Kleczka's seat in the House. She's running against Gerry Boyle, and she's got the troops fired up!
