Are you ready for some lip-synching!

I didn't witness it myself, but this is hilarious-

Saturday Night Live was not as "Live" as people expected last night. Musical Guest Ashlee Simpson poorly lip-synched her first song, and then a technical glitch or mistake led to the wrong vocal track being played for her second performance proving her fraud as she stood there confused while her recorded voice filled the airwaves . Simpson's band picked up the slack, attempting to save the show as Ashlee walked off the stage. Just a minute in (on a musical segment usually four or more minutes long) SNL pulled the plug, cutting quickly to a commercial.

"I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me. "

- Ashlee Simpson in Lucky Magazine

I've been trying to find clips of it on the internet, the only one I could find so far was at CNN and required a payment, so I'm still looking. Anybody see it?

Pa-friggin-thetic.
Nice dance though.

It was obvious to me that acts like Janet Jackson and En Vogue were lip syncing during their SNL performances. Now I hope everyone can see through the charade. WTF is the point of presenting yourself as a singer if you can't sing?

Anybody remember James Taylor on the show once in the 70s when they made it a point to show the reel-to-reel player kicking in to do the background vocals? I'm sure James could have found a couple of humans to fill in, but at least they were up front about it.

I seem to recall seeing Todd Rundgren on TV about 25 years ago. He was sitting at a piano, and had a reel-to-reel tape recorder on a table next to him. He introduced it as his backing band.

It isn't like she had any integrity to lose.

I saw it, and that isn't even the worst part--at the end, when everyone comes out for goodbyes, Jude Law tried to smooth things over casually, put his arm around Ashlee, and offered 'What can we say...live TV.' Which would have been fine. But then Ashlee goes "I'm sorry--my band started playing the wrong song and I didn't know what to do." Which is horrible a) becuase who do you think you're fooling and b) way to turn on the long-suffering bandmates who tried to save your ass.

I caught the 2nd "performance" while channel surfing. I didn't know who it was but figured I'd check it out just because I happened to surf on to SNL coming back to its musical guest after commercial. When I found out it was Ashlee (who is riding on the vapid Jessica's coat tails and Daddy's agressive marketing )in the article I posted on my AS thread, it set me off. I will also admit to being somewhat pleased because once again the pop music business was exposed for the artificial crap it is.
