The Time Has Come Today

Yes it has, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Bush or Kerry?

What do you side with? Money and Corporate Selfishness or the Future and the Will of the People?

What's it gonna be....

Leave it to Goody to screw up a perfectly good song title from one of my old-time favorite songs.

No "The", Tim.

Time Has Come Today
(W. Chambers/J.Chambers)

Time has come today
Young hearts can go their way
Can't put it off another day
And I don't care what the others say
'Cause they say we don't listen anyway
Time has come today, Hey!

The rules have changed today, Hey!
I have no place to stay, Hey!
And I'm thinkin' about the subway, Hey!
Love has gone away, Hey!
And tears have come and gone, Hey!
Oh my God, I have to run, Hey!
I have no home, Hey!
I have no home, Hey!

Now the time has come, Time!
There's no place to run, Time!
Might get burned up by the sun, Time!
Well, I've had my fun, Time!
Well, I've been loved and put aside, Time!
And I've been crushed by tumblin' tide, Time!
And my soul's be psychedelicized, Time!

Now the time has come, Time!
There are things to realize, Time!
Time has come today, Time!
Time has come today, Time!

Time!

Now the time has come, Time!
There are things to realize, Time!
Time has come today, Time!
Time has come today, Time!

Time!

Now the time has come, Time!
Time has come today, Time!
Time has come today, Yeah!

Time Has Come Today
- The Chambers Brothers
Song Review by Matthew Greenwald

One of the finest and most accessible examples of psychedelic rock & roll to grace the radio airwaves, "Time Has Come Today" has an interesting history. Written over two years before its ultimate recording and release, the song's original version was cut in 1966 and rejected by Columbia Records. This version is now available on the Time Has Come collection. The better-known version is on the album of the same name. An Afro-rock masterpiece, it's guided by a fabulously simple and spacy guitar riff. The lyrics are a meditation of the acid-magnified state of mind and union of the time. The extended album version became one of the first examples of what was to become known as an "underground radio" staple. The earlier, alternate version is equally demented and worth seeking out on the Sony/Legacy collection.

Yeah.

Now then...what's your choice, folks?

More of the same or a change?

Time has come...

OK.

I would vote for Bush if the only other choice was Hitler.

Chambers Brothers? I heard them on this compilation called Paint It Black, they're some funky rock somewhat like early Funkadelic. I can dig it.

Kerry all the way.

Thanks for posting the pic, Brian. Many fond memories of Steve Paul's "The Scene," back in the New York City psychedelic daze...

The Ramones did a respectable cover of "Time Has Come Today."
