www.iaje.org

My duaghter works for a major hotel firm.
Got me the "friends & family" room rate fairly close to the convention ctr. reasonably priced!

Who's goin'????

Let's get a hang together.

When is the big party at Valerie's house?
edit: the last question is just a tease for my 'lil sister

Mike:

May the Schwartz's be with you!

I'll be there, staying at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel, directly across the street from the convention center.

I will also be moderating a panel on Friday, January 7th at 12noon.
I don't have the exact location but that will be revealed. The panel is called something like:

"Jazz Radio Greats: Jazz on the Radio before NPR, Arbitron and Clear Channel"

Participants will include Dick LaPalm, Mort Fega, Gene Norman (GNP Crescendo), Jerry Dean (KJAZ), Dick Conte. It will be greatfun and informative to hear these radio veterans swap stories and memories and take questions from audience members.
Please add this to your schedule of things to do at IAJE
See you all there

i'll definitely be there, at least on saturday. unfortunately, i'll be working the other days although i may venture down there friday evening. sorry that i'll miss steve's panel although now i'm thinking that maybe i'll take friday off! i wouldn't normally even hesitate but it's a new job and i don't have any time coming to me yet.

see you all there on the weekend if not before.

big bro': i'd consider a party except that long beach isn't that close to where i live!!

xoxoxo to the schwartz's!!!

It's approx. 30 miles so, depending on the traffic, it's a half-hour to an hour's drive. after an evening of partying though, i don't think i want to be driving back and forth. if my friend from sacramento comes down, i'll have a place to stay. we were roomates at iaje in toronto.

we definitely will see each other, mike!

I'm trying to put together another Jazzcorner lunch/hang, but not sure yet how many clients are coming. I'll be doing an "Ask The Experts" forum where I get to spend 10 minutes with 6 people consulting them on the internet from 4-5 on Friday. So Steve I'll definitely be at your panel. Did you ever reach Les Davis?

I'll keep everyone posted.

Lois:

I did reach Les Davis. Thank you for putting us in touch. He had to decline the offer to participate. It's hard to get people to travel long disctances and ask them to foot the bill for it just to be on a panel for an hour. I also had nice phone conversations with Oscar Treadwell, Ed Love, Sid McCoy, Ed Beach, China Vallis and a few others. Either health or financial issues prevented them from being able to take part. We'll have a great panel with those we do have and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Steve,

I hope we can hook up again this year. It was a blast having lunch with you, Valerie, Pete and Roger Crane.

I going to try to catch some of the action.

Very cool!

Want an autograph?

Tell me, can I pay for just Saturday or is it a package deal only?

Tim, unfortuantely, for IAJE you have to pay for the whole conference. In NY you can sometimes sneak into the concerts (but not the exhibition hall), but last time in Long Beach they were very vigiliant (I was hoping to get a friend from Santa Monica in one night).

Thanks, Pete.

I'll check out the prices and see how it goes.

Maybe I can write them off as educational expenses

It's pretty high if you're only going for one day--you have to join as well as pay for the conference--the total tab is definitely over $200.

Hm.

Maybe I could get, uh....sick or something and declare my doctor said plenty of Jazz was my remedy.

Lodging is no big deal since my best friend lives in OC.

I'll figure something out....

You guys should do the brunch at the Queen Mary. It's not "great" but it's fun. I don't know if it's only Sunday, or if they do Saturday too.
