Jazz Jams in the Boston area

I used to attend the Natick Center for Arts but that one went away after some controversey with one of the workers who pretty much ran the show on Tuesdays.

I've been to Costello's on a Sunday night and the Acton Jazz Cafe for the one on Sunday afternoons.

Any hidden secrets around I'm missing out on?

I really enjoyed the Natick jam, miss it.

I think the Natick jam moved over to Java Jim's, also in Natick.

The Zeitgeist has some open jams, but can be more avant garde...

Too bad there are not more chances to jam here

I went to the Acton Jazz Cafe yesterday, Molly Flannery was hosting.

It was a great afternoon, she has some great original compositons!

(for those who were there! Girlie Man!)

there's plenty of places to jam. You guys are missing some of the best sessions. try matt murphy's in brookline on thursdays or wally's on sundays.
sometimes they arent as good. but when they are good, they are really great.

I'm very excited now that I found this information tonight!

The musicians who made the Natick jam so great are now playing here...
I will be heading out there tomorrow night.

Great Jazz!

The jams are held at Java Jim's. The new Art center is run by the same guy who was responsible for the success at TCAN.

The Jazz Jams on Tuesdays were some of the best live Jazz shows I've been to. I'm excited to see all the guys back again. This will be my spot for Tuesday nights from now on...If you live close you should check it out.

A friend of mine recently relocated from California to the Boston area and is looking specifically for a jazz jam/sit-in situation where vocalists are welcomed. Any ideas?

Tks,
Marla

I have seen vocalists sit in at both the Acton Jazz Cafe and the jam above which is now located at Java Jim's.
