Dollar Store Treasures

I'm a dollar store freak. I think I did a thread about my "dollar store Christmas" last year (I got the great paper that said "Merry Chritsmas"[sic] remember? Maybe that wasn't here).

Well, today I found THE s***. I picked up these DVDs of old teevee and movies. They had many, but I picked up videos of the Jack Benny Show, Abbott and Costello show, Snows of Kilimanjaro, and A Farewell to Arms. They had I Love Lucy, Topper, Red Skelton, Burns and Allen, other movies---a huge box of them! I didn't want to go too nuts not knowing if they were any good or not.

I bought two of the Jack Benny discs so I could test drive one to see if the others were worth giving. It was nothing fancy, just 3 complete shows including the Lucky Strikes ads. There was no history or commentary. Just a bare bones disc of 3 Jack Benny shows (one with Humphrey Bogart, one with Jayne Mansfield, and one with Liberac in which Jack plays violin. Mel Blanc showed up as a guest in one, too). Sound and picture were both acceptable. The coolest thing was listening to my son laugh at them. That stuff is just timeless funny.

Anyway, I think that may be the Dollar Store find of the decade.
