Jazz Pictures from Red Norvo to Dee Dee Bridgewater

Many excellent American performers from Count Basie to Miles Davis have enriched one of Europe's most important festivals in Berlin. This year the Jazzfest celebrated its 40th anniversary. Reason enough for the Bavarian Jazz Institute to design a website dedicated to pictures taken by the Berlin photographer Ludwig Binder between 1968 and 1980. The Website is not yet available in English, but easy enough to navigate: Just choose a year, then a name and the picture as well as the band and personnel will be displayed…

If you can give me an idea if you deem this project a worthwhile contribution to the Net we will have it translated (or not).
I’m thankful for any constructive feedback you can give me.
Have a jazzful day

It is indeed easy enough to navigate, but since there's so little text you might as well have it translated, since it shouldn't be a major effort.

However, though it is easy to navigate, the photos load very slowly, and I'm on DSL, so you might want to consider whatever upgrade will deliver images faster. I suspect it would be painfully slow for dial-up.

The photo of "Elvin Jones" looks like Sunny Murray to me.

It's Elvin Jones - check out another photographic source for comparison, Karlheinz Klüter's picture of him is pretty good:

This is a very nice site with some really fine images. I agree that it would be helpful to have the text translated and the photographic images delivered faster. It wasn't the slowest I've experienced, but each photo took approximately :30 secs. to load via dialup internet connection.

Here are a few favorites thus far:

One more suggestion, if I may. How about having larger images available by clicking on the image you select to view?

Another favorite. Check out Art's tongue. Classic!
