I actually saw this movie over the weekend (in the company of 4 boys aged 7-10). It was not too bad.

The first episode appeared July 17, 1999. It has taken just over four years for the little guy to go from a cute idea to a money-machine for licensing.

If, like me, you didn't know this character from a hole in the ground until the movie came out, you can read all about his genesis and success here.

Howie Carr once had a caption-the-photograph contest, with the picture being one of Ted K. wearing nothing but a pair of shorts on the beach. The winning entry: Sponge Boob Whale Pants.

Are you ready kids?

I saw the movie yesterday, funny stuff. It's cotton candy for the soul.

Wasn't sure if it would hold up as full length film, but it works. I love the exaggerated expressions the characters give. The hasselhoff (sp?) bit was hilarious. I don't smoke weed, but if I did I imagine it would be pretty trippy watching this movie.

Carmen and I were going to see this movie last Saturday, but we dropped the boy off at the grandparents and then saw the line at the theater. Not just hundreds of people but hundreds of KIDS! Like if we get two hours off of baby duty, we want to face that! So we had a quiet coffee and a look around a bookshop and then we went back to our own little squarepant.
