I'm Purple
A friend of a friend wrote this light piece of doggerel, in the manner of Doctor Seuss, regarding our current political climate.
I'M PURPLE
I'm purple. A mixture. A hybridized hue.
I'm partially red and I'm partially blue
(And I'll bet that there may be some purple in you).
Just look in the mirror a minute. I hope
You'll see something lilac, like lavender soap,
Or hyacinth, fuchsia, or heliotrope.
For if I look at you and it's red that I see,
And if you get the blues when you're looking at me,
Then our dialog's destined to die rapidly.
Flaming hot and ice cold are such disparate themes
For a people who share the same hopes and same dreams.
"Shades of difference" sounds better than drastic extremes.
I'm purple. A mixture. A hybridized hue.
I'm partially red and I'm partially blue
(And I hope that there may be some purple in you).
