I use Firefox and Netscape 7.2 at home (they're almost exactly the same), and use IE at work, because that's what the company supports. I just switched to Firefox at home last week, and am very pleased with the results.

I still prefer Netscape to IE. Don't hock me no Firefox. The election was clearly rigged against my candidate.

I'm still using Netscape to get my mail. We have our own server.

Firefox for everything else.

Firefox! Tab browsing is the most obvious advantage. There are also lots of plugins/extensions available.

Question about Firefox:

1. How do you get it to show newer versions of stored pages everytime you visit?

My internet experience began with Netscape, which I still use for our primary e-mail. I've also used IE, Opera, Firebird, and now, Firefox.

Opera and Firefox have been my two best experiences, overall.

Among them ...

• Pop-up Blocker
• Tabbed Browsing
• Google search is built in to the toolbar
• Totally Customizable

etc.

Using Firefox should convince just anyone that it's very hip, easy-to-use, secure, fast and well thought out.

Lois, I'm not sure that I understand your question.

Never been there, but I plan to check it out.

Not that it matters...I started with AO-Hell.

It was a completely abusive and totally miserable experience.

TBH, Yahoo.com [my generic mailbox provider] does most of what you listed as advantages.

Lois,

I just looked around the options in Firefox and I don't see any settings where I can use older versions of web pages. It looks like Firefox always gets the web page when you visit, even if it's cached.

I'll look around more.

Can Firefox be installed on an Apple? I'm contemplating going to Apple for my home use and need to know.

At home, Firefox on my laptop, which gets used most often. Its on an ADSL connection and wireless.

Opera on an old NT box without network card, so still use dial-up, only when laptop is travelling with wife

At work, IE because that's what the tech control* guy here says I have to use.

*he refers to his department as tech support, but in reality...

Ignore da bum. He's an idjit or he wouldn't have told you to use IE, and you're not going to take instruction from idjits, are you?

Ah, hold on... Who's president again?

Oops. Sorry. Politics free zone. I'll remove it...

Too late, I pressed the button...

Oh well.

I was using the AOL browser on my home computer, but all the safety software slowed it down so much I deleted it all.

now use Firefox ... but I keep getting a "Windows Security Alert," even though I have a free version of Norton installed.

And suggestions?

Which version of Firefox do you have installed, rollie?

Smart move to "86" AOL. I'd say the same for IE.

IE to me is garbage, but there are certain sites which aren't Firefox-compatible, like MLB-tv for example. I use Safari for that, but even that doesn't work that well. For some reason, some of these sites using video work better with IE, and often seem not to work at all with Firefox.

Camino.

"Mozilla power, Mac Style" is what they call it.

If you're using Safari, or even Firefox for Mac, and you're on a MacIntel machine, you might find it worth looking at.

I just downloaded Safari 3 for Windows. I'm going to try it out.

I don't own a laptop, having never been able to justify the expense for my needs. However, now that Patti and I are traveling more in retirement, I'm thinking about doing some research and diving in so that we can stay connected wherever we are. I'm also thinking about our 1st Macintosh for this move, should I make it. Recommendations?

Firefox would still be my first choice for a browser.

Are you seeing something such as "Your computer may be at risk . . .?"

I'm making my first post ever in Safari. The page loads are supposed to be twice as fast as Firefox.

Opera for me. Just like the look and feel. Been using it for 7-8 years. Opera had tabbed browsing years before IE and Mozilla caught on. Faster, too. I suspect Safari for Windows is going to look a lot like Opera.

I use Firefox, mainly for pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, and the ad-blocking plug-in.
Last time I looked at Opera, it cost money. I guess that was several years ago. It appears to be free now, so maybe I'll check it out.

Yes, Rollie, take heed. The only way to rectify that condition is to drop your monitor from at least a second floor window. Better yet, from a moving vehicle.
