Reporters face possible jail time
The Washington Post has an interesting story about the Valerie Plame affair, and the two journalists who have refused to identify their confidential sources, and now face jail time for doing so.

Fascinating. And one has to ask, why isn't Robert Novak being asked any questions? He knows who the leaker is. Of course, if the President of the United States wanted the leaker's identity revealed, he could always find out. He is, after all, President of the United States. So we have to assume he doesn't want to know (this is a typical Bush posture). If reporters go to jail as a result, no flies on him.

Oh yeah, Novak sounds unbelievably nasal, ignorant and whiny, too.

According to Patriot Act 2, reporting itself is a terrorist act.
Save a tree. Ban the press and arrest all of its employees.

The question is: Why isn't Novak facing jail time? Isn't it some kind of federal crime to reveal the identity of a covert CIA agent? Plus Novak's a Washington player. He knows the consequences of his actions. The woman's career gets screwed and very foreign contact she's ever made could be endangered.
I don't understand this, they know he released Plame's name (oops, so did I just now). Why are they beating around the bush interviewing all the other reporters who were contacted by the new Deep Throat?

Maybe the Feds are afraid that Novak is too pretty for prison.

Maybe they're afraid Dolan has one more Grand Theft Auto in him, and he might meet up with Novak in the slam.

A. Mark this down, Ron. I'm agreeing with you on a political thread. Novak is a snake.
B. Did you get bugmenot re-installed? I know it works for the WP.
Crawjo, if I remember correctly that you are a diehard ie user, just go to bugmenot.com and get a WP user name/password.
