Nancie Banks Tribute Concert

Thought some of you would like to know that the Nancie Banks Orchestra will get together one more once in a musical tribute to their late leader on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at St. Peter's Church, 54th Street & Lexington at 7:30 pm. Nancy's husband, Clarence Banks, (trombonist with The Basie Band) will conduct. (Admission is free.)

Thanks for posting hp...a very warm hearted sweet woman, talented musician; the one time we 'met' via phone the day she was the feature guest on the weekly broadcast, not to mention her participation here.

Mike we must've been posting at the same time, cause when I hit submit reply I saw yours and not mine

I also thank HP for posting this announcement. I have such fond memories of Nancie, and she along with HP, myself, Jazzy Mary, Cookie and Frankie Yakamoto was part of the original gal crew here... If I recall correctly.

We continue to miss her and hold her thoughts and prayers

Glad I saw this so my thoughts can be with the orchestra on Sunday. I respected Nancie greatly as a musician both for her talent and work-ethic. Miss her.

I caught this thread after-the-fact, but would be grateful to hear from anyone who was in attendance at the tribute.

Hornplayer? Lois?

RIP, Nancie Banks~

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the concert, Ron. Was up to my ears getting my kitchen ready for the wrecking ball. I haven't had a chance to speak with anyone who was there. I'll try to get in touch with Brian Grice, her drummer, and post a report.
