De-Reynoldsization of America

Where do we place the blame for the systematic De-Reynoldsization of the people here in America?

You left out the one unforgivable lapse: That Papa Joe doesn't host one of the nightly network news programs.

I think it's that microbreweries have taken market share away from Anheuser Busch

I think the People Have Spoken. Each of us is responsible for the amount of Reynoldsization we allow in our lives. I have allowed a certain amount of Reynoldization into my life, with mixed results. On the positive side, I now own a couple Jemeel Moondoc CDs and an 8 Bold Souls CD, each of which I love dearly. On the negative side, I own "2 days in april" and a Myra Melford/Han Bennink effort called "11 Ghosts." I do not understand the point of either of these recordings, but as Preacher would be first to say, that is my problem.

Hey, Dave, I'll trade you any Moondoc recording I can find around here for the Melford/Bennink!

Without a doubt! And Dave could do a lot worse than 2 Days in April, by golly.

Dave, if you like Moondoc, I think you'll like some of Charles Tyler's less outside excursions. I suspect he may have been an influence on Moondoc's sound, and they both had an association with Khan Jamal. In fact, the album with Tyler I'd suggest for a starter is Jamal's "Dark Warrior."

I thought Sisco was the Moondoc fan. Dr. Dave, I'm still awaiting your response to my wine question in the movie thread.

I am a Moondoc fan, Doc Dave. I'm not a fan of "Spirit House," though. Too sloppy. "Live At the Vision Festival" is a much better Jus Grew performance and is the one I'd recommend over "Spirit House."

I'd forgotten that disc, gp. I spun that more than once at KJZZ-FM in Anchorage back in the day, believe me. Some off-the-wall moments too good to overlook on a late Saturday evening on-the-air.

Excuse me. Because I am the most un-Reynoldized person on this site, I have no clue who Moondoc is.

Is Moondoc anything like Moon Dog? I am a big prostlytizer for Moon Dog.

I think the De-Reynoldsization of America started when Stevie Rey announced: "the search for Sadaam's WMD in Iraq has just started and I will re-double my efforts to find them, damn the liberal press"

I believe that quote came from a statement made by Reynolds in the last few weeks.

On a music note I bought 2 Days in April and have purchased Evan Parker on Reynolds rec. With the exception of a grand solo by Kidd Jordan, 2 Days feels more like 2 Years. EP makes me feel like I'm drunk off of bad whisky and even though I love Frank Lowe, I had a hell of a time listening to more that 10 minutes of The Flam.

Got to love Reynolds for his strong beliefs even if they often run counter to my own.

Revolt of the Negro Lawn Jockeys is my favorite Moondoc. The title cut itself is worth the price of admission. In the case of Moondoc I agree with Steve.
