Decisions, decisions...

I have $80. I need a new box.

Thoughts-
AEoC Chuck Nessa set
Parachute Years- John Zorn

Suggestions-
......

P.S.- Does the AEoC box come as recordds or CDs?

It will probably cost you more than $80, but I really like the Nessa AEC box, which is CDs.

If you buy it directly from Chuck Nessa it is $75 plus $4 shipping.

You can contact him directly at cnessa at earthlink dot net .

Great set! If you are interested in the AEC you should grab one before it goes out of print.

when I get around to selling more of my Zorn CDs (do you think you'll ever have a Zappa moment with him, Steve S.? I think I have, with Braxton also.), the Parachute box will probably be among the last to go. it's from a period where he was actually pushing boundaries, getting hard to remember at this point. has anyone else heard the new duo disc with Eye? sad.

but definitely the Art Ensemble box, it's pretty close to OOP, as John says. and let me add that it's a sad world where it takes 12 years and counting to sell 2500 copies of that baby worldwide. (I have number 157, who's got me beat?)

and pick up Locus Solus for early Zorn, that was where I first heard Christian Marclay, yowza.

I think a Zappa moment is when you realize that a musician who you've been listening to for years really isn't that good after all.

Zappa, as a musician, could run rings around many of the artists we regularly discuss here.

almost, I think it's more that you realize you've already spent enough of your life listening to that artist and don't need or want to anymore.

you can do a search on Steve and Zappa on JC, and find his recent post about it here. the article that prompted him towards this moment is here:
