The presenters? (Kidding, but you could just call them. They live right there in your town.)

Lois, the Vision Festival is held during the last week of May, to run through the long Memorial Day weekend. I believe it starts this year on the 25th.

In December I was told that the dates are scheduled for Wednesday May 25 through Monday May 30, though you might want to double-check on that.

I just wanted to start Jazz Festivals 2005 - I actually don't think the dates are out yet, but I'm hoping that we'll do something special with a JC hang that will be meeting some of the artists as well.

Vision Festival. Ah yes. It looked as if Paul Dunmall was going to be there but now is without a gig. Hmmmm.......What happened?????

I found out last night that the Brotzmann Tentet will be playing Victoriaville Festival this year and should have a gig at Tonic in May. Also heard, back in Dec. that Little Huey Orchestra was invited to Victo as well. As for the Tentet, look for Per Ake Holmlander, Magnus Broo, and Paal Nilsson-Love to replace Mars Williams, Jeb Bishop, and Hamid Drake.

Pat, your stamina & passion are traits I can only aspire too. Sounds like a *killer* trip in both connotations of the word. Hey speaking of words, any word on when the upcoming Tentet rekkid on Okka will drop?

Stamina? did someone say....zzzzz....... well, my initial intention was to stay on for Thurs. and possibly thru the weekend but work and family obligations dictated otherwise.

All I know is that the reason Peter was in Chi. was to help mix the recording. Not sure when the release is scheduled.

even without Hamid

Holmlander is a monster as is the drummer

the day of the show at Tonic - if on a Saturday *demands* to be the day of the hang

sure hope the Dunmall situation is rectified - sure would love to see him (and Rogers - one would hope) again this year - been much too long - this time I want to sit next to Dr. Horn instead of Cherches....

and even without Hamid - this year Theli will sit on the other side of me at the Tentet show - this is also a MUST!!!!

btw - who is Magnuss Broo and what be his voice of choice?

Steve, Magnus Broo is an excellent trumpeter. Check out his fine work on Fredrik Nordstrom's marvelous release, Moment (Moserobie 18).

I seem to recall Dennis Gonzalez posting somewhere -- maybe on his own site? -- that Downtown Music Gallery will be presenting an evening at this year's Vision Festival, and that he will be bringing Yells at Eels for the festivities.

Sadly, my longstanding pattern of having a conflict pretty much every time my old pal Dennis comes to New York City seems to be holding firm: I'll be in Los Angeles from Thursday to Monday of that week. (At least I've got a Falstaff and a Rosenkavalier to look forward to while I'm there...)

Well, that counts me out, all other factors to the contrary. Can't make those dates at all.

I'll likely be heading to the Cape with my family on the 19th, so it looks like I'm out, too.

Sucks. There wasn't a whole huge chance I'd get there for the traditional dates this year, but if those are going to be the dates, there's no chance at all, even for a rocket down and back.

I wonder if they're doing it so NY can have a jazz festival while JVC presents their "jazz festival."

So who you gonna have on drum kit? My vote is for Moholo if you can convince him to make the trip.
