KC's grit and soul, exhumed for reuse (hi-speed only)

KC's grit and soul, exhumed for reuse (hi-speed only)

A tangent from the 18th&Vine thread....

While you wait for this bloated thread to download, carefully
follow these steps from the imaginary announcer. The imaginary
announcer with that squawky voice of a 50's instructional film,
teaching the obedient children the atomic bomb drill… feeding
them with the fear of puritanism... that is, puritanism is the fear
that someone out there is enjoying themselves.

Or if you'd prefer, as Chris Albertson would, envision that it is the
voice of the text-to-speech guy on the early models of the Macintosh.

Sit…

...into half lotus position and break out the looseleaf
tea. Steep as directed. Feel the support of the floor beneath you.
Breathe. Let your bones melt into the floor. Curl into fetal position
and rock if it suits you.

Let go of the mouse my children. Wait for this to complete its
task so that you may fully experience the ride you are about to
embark on. Realize the energy expensed with every simple motion.
Allow yourself to step outside the confines of learned culture.

We may now begin.

Kansas City's first industrial era boomed in late 1800's to 1930's so KC
has three large pre-war brick warehouse districts surrounding
downtown. Most of it is still standing. Infinite, countless loft development is
now going on with a rather large arts thing of 60 galleries and a bunch of gay clubs
in one of the districts, yuppie development in another, and edgier
grit of entropy in another. And then we shall cap it off with some
residential developments inside the downtown loop.

Crossroads arts district, South side of downtown.
