Jason Moran needs Suzuki Piano teacher - (NYC)

Hello
I have a friend looking for a Suzuki Method piano teacher in NYC. They have a son around 9 years old and he's been playing for a couple of years. He's doing well and is actually into the piano. This teacher would have a good student. Please contact me so i can pass your information on. many thanks.

Better sources might include:

School for Strings (it has a piano program) and my son Jonathan gets away with studying there and playing jazz at the same time http://www.schoolforstrings.org/. One of the best and very Suzuki.

Brooklyn College has a nice Suzuki program that is a little looser but I can't find a website.

Finally for one off teachers that have taken actual training in Suzuki, try the teacher search at http://www.suzukiassociation.org/ .

Suzuki is about the whole child, not just teaching music so folks should observe and participate as much as possible. My wife is a Suzuki guitar teacher and she can rant for hours about bad "Suzuki" teachers that have no clue about what Dr. Suzuki intended.

I must've had one of those bad teachers, cause boy did I hate Suzuki piano lessons as a kid. The only thing I hated more was swimming lessons, but I can at least swim...

Thanks

Thanks for all of the great info. I'll pass this on. My brothers and I grew up learning the Suzuki method. We had a great teacher, in hindsight. There were definitely times when i thought i should spend more time on my skateboard than on the piano. Well, I think the lessons paid off, thanks to MOMS & POPS. Many thanks for all of the input. Take care.
