Doris Day in "Breasts Of Passion"
Sex film shock for Doris Day fans
27 January 2005
A devout Baptist couple today told of their disgust after they bought a classic musical DVD featuring Doris Day from their local supermarket only to discover it was a Italian sex film.
Alan and Anne Leigh-Browne, from Wellington, Somerset, had been expecting to enjoy watching The Pajama Game, a romantic comedy featuring the fifties icon.
Instead the shocked pensioners were confronted by raunchy sex film - Tettore che Passione, which translates as Breasts of Passion.
Retired doctor Alan, 67, picked up the film, which was sealed in plastic wrapping, for £2.99 from the bargain bin of a Safeway supermarket in nearby Taunton last Monday.
On Thursday the couple who are regular attenders of their local Baptist church, settled down with a cup of tea to watch the 1957 film which has a U (universal) certificate.
Mr Leigh-Browne explained: "We are big fans of Doris Day and were looking forward to the film, but we knew something was amiss when a warning flashed up on the screen advising under 18s not to carry on watching.
"Then some topless young women appeared and started talking in Italian we were horrified, it's not what you expect from a Doris Day film.
"It was a pretty raunchy, explicit film, it certainly pulled no punches. My wife and I were very shocked but we watched it until the end because we couldn't believe what we were seeing.
"The film became progressively more graphic, there was no plot to it, it was just sex."
Alan and his wife Anne, 60, a retired teacher, complained to Safeway the next day and all copies of the Pajama Game were immediately removed from the store.
A spokeswoman for Morrisons who now run Safeway said: "We would urge the customer involved to return the product to their nearest store with proof of purchase or send direct to the Customer Services Department at Morrisons Head Office as a thorough investigation cannot take place until the product is returned."
But the Leigh-Brownes, who are still to pick up a copy of the original Pajama Game, are anxious that the porn film could have fallen into the wrong hands.
Mr Leigh Browne added: "Out biggest concern with the whole episode was that small children could easily have bought the film and been exposed to its content. It was in the bargain bin alongside other children's films.
"There must be some way of ensuring that this cannot happen."

I feel worse for the person who wanted to wank to some good Italian porn and got some Doris Day instead.
Que sera sera, baby.

i find the first post hard to believe.
i don't think that Doris Day would ever appear in a sex film. she is too uptight and her upbringing would prevent it. she would never of let her parents know that if she needed the money in her younger years that she would do that. she did have a bluesy voice to carry over for her budget and living. why do something that would bite her in the ass later on in life.
she had a bad case of picking wrong men for husbands, but it just doesn't fly that doris day would lower her standards to do that.
maybe a real look-a-like posed in the film but doris day would never.
no fn way!!

I think the film was from Day's pre-virgin period.

Was there bestiality involved? If so, it definitely wasn't Doris Day. Otherwise, maybe.

In that case I think we'd be talking Shelley Winters.

No, no they got the Italian porno film instead of the Doris Day movie! English is your first language?
Although a Doris Day porno movie would be a hell of a thing.

Doris "Sentimental Journey" Day was well known around these parts to have had very, very, very close relationships with the entire LA Lakers squad back in the 60's.
After all, she wasn't gettin' any from Rock.

I understand the Leigh-Brownes' horror. I have bought a DVD or two and have been horrified at the contents but in my case the contents were what was marked on the box,

I guess they were waiting and hoping for a scene with Doris in her P.J.s!

Fortunately, Mr. Alan Leigh-Brown lives in Somerset, England. I'm now waiting for a similar episode here in the U.S. so that Alberto Gonzales might have the opportunity to say "Something must be done!"
Now, what was the real Doris Day like?

I LOVE Doris's psuedo-groans on the Move Over Darling, so raunchy I believe the song was banned somewhere (Britain? Italy?).
The tune is unlike any of her other well-known stuff.
Produced by her son, the recently departed Terry Melcher, it's got more of a Spectorish wall-of-sound thing going.

Catholic Worker Movement in the U.S. I believe she was taking it from the entire Boston Celtics squad, as opposed to the Lakers.
There are some fishy parts to this story. They watched the entire thing? And didn't return it until the next day? If they were so concerned for the children, why not return it immediately? Me suspects that the Baptists had themselves a party with it and then felt guilty the next day.
