Just a hustle for $5.95 to people who don't know any better.

What I love about it is the info-mercial tone: the same information repeated over and over! in slightly! different! ways!

Then again, if adding nearly 700(!) albums to your to-buy list can be of any help to anyone, why not?

So lemme get this straight - I can pay to get substantially less info than I can get by browsing here, AAJ, and AMG? Sweet! Where do I sign up?

LOL!

I also like the euphemism "We will not bore you with critiques" (although they call themselves critics at one point), nor give you any complementary information! Just trust us!

Apparently jazz giants ceased to walk the earth sometime after 1986.

They sure know their music...

If anyone ever finds "Charles Mingus/ AH HUM (1959) ..." please let me know. I've been looking for that one forever!

Actually, this is a little-known alternate set that was never released. Mingus and the guys thought they'd try to record the music without instruments. The results, predictably, were mixed.

Didn't Mingus use the little-known French musician Stephane Acappelli on that session?

(Ba-dum-bum)

(sorry)

Ooooo, and the web design is so purty with that circa 1996 layout. And there's a guestbook, too!

Many English websites, commercial and uncommercial look like they were done in 1996.

Damn, just checked the site, it's actually American. That's shoddy. American's should know better than to try to sell stuff from site that looks worse than spam.

Does the fact that they are offering a definitive guide suggest that there could be more than one definitive guides? Wouldn't that make it "not" definitive?

Oh, and this quote is impressive: "The JAZZ LIST is neatly arranged in alphabetical and chronoligical order". How do they do that? Shouldn't it be an either/or thing?

Oh come on, Aggie. Obviously they've alphabetized the dates.

I thought they had dated the alphabet. You know, the letter "X" came before "F," chronologically.

"the time tested and truly vested stuff when Jazz was Jazz!! "

This could actually come in handy. I remember back in the day when I was buying records willy-nilly and bought a lot of discs from when Jazz was Gregorian Chants.

My collection is in alpha-chronological order. I suppose that's what they mean.

Apparently, jazz stopped being jazz in 1987.

But really, should we be mocking these two guys so hard?

Don't you remember that huge meteor that hit the Village Vanguard in 1987??? Killed all the jazz giants dead. Somehow Wynton Marsalis escaped.

If it only hit the VV, it couldn't have been that huge.

I vaguely recall reading that as the gargantuan meteor was plummeting towards Earth it wasn't originally headed for the V.V. at all, but for New Orleans. However, Wynton's ego deflected it before it could completely enter our atmosphere, causing it to change course towards NYC, and the rest is jazz history...

For $5.95 they could at least throw in a penis enlarger.

What do you mean?

Doctor Jazz

Hello Central give me Doctor Jazz
He's got what I need, I'll say he has
When the world goes wrong and I've got the blues
He's the guy who makes me put on both my dancin' shoes

The more I get, the more I want it soon
I see Doctor Jazz in all my dreams
When I'm in trouble bounds are mixed
He's the guy who gets me fixed
Hello central give me Doctor Jazz
