Could some of the more scholarly folks in the group give me a little insight on the tune,"Directions"? I've heard Weather Report's and Miles' versions..it sounds like the same riff is repeated,but the phrasing,and the rests between the phrases is different each time.It almost sounds like it's being played at random,but I've noticed that Joe & Wayne are playing it 'different' in unison.Is this piece written to be played a specific way,or is it just a head that can be played according to the whims of the musicians?Hope this makes sense :^)
