He's played with RR Kirk, Dexter Gordon, and Jerry Bergonzi to name a few, and has a disc out, "Unriel". Thanks, Ged

He was the house drummer at Cafe Montmartre in Copenhagen for quite some time (along with Kenny Drew and NHOP), so he appears on a lot of Steeplechase releases and live Scandinavian gigs. That's all I know.

Alex is a terrific drummer, based in Copenhagen and he, Mads Vinding (bass) and I often play together. He and Mads work together beautifully --- "Old Friends" -- Storyville Records, for example. He is also on my piano trio to be released next year. Bob Brookmeyer

Alex Riel has played with many jazz masters as Bud Powell, Dexter Gordon, Jackie McLean, Harry "sweet" Edison and recently has done several recording as a leader with Jerry Bergonzi, Mike Brecker and others for Stunt records a danish jazz label and with Jerry Bergonzi for Red Records.
Big drummer with his sound and style.
Totally agree with Mr. Brookmayer Alex is a terrific drummer. Riel works also very good with Jespeer Lundgard an other big bass player of Danish school.
