Dear Jazz Corner-ites;

I thought I'd start a thread for anybody who wants to ask me anything about what I do, what I'm doing, etc. or just rap about jazz and the trumpet.I'd like to start things off by inviting those of you in or visiting the New York area to my gig with my Latin Jazz quintet, Spheres Of Influence (Luis Perdomo, piano; Boris Kozlow, bass; Dafnis Prieto Rodriguez, drums; and Renato Thoms, percussion), at the Phoenix Room (Amsterdam between 87th and 88th) on Wed, Dec.22 and 29th. These dates are the last two performances of a weekly gig that's been going on since late Oct., and the band is sounding great. I hope to re-book the band at this venue after the new year (note: the millenium does not end until Dec.31st, 2000) but meanwhile, catch us before it's too late.

Brian, Congratulations on your 4 star review in the new Downbeat. The reviewer said something like "ferocious fire and quiet charm walking side by side". I agree!! "Tribute to the Trumpet Masters" is a fantastic album!!

Hi, all Jazz Corner-ites!

I'd like to get this thread going again (well, it never really got going in the first place); I've been absent from Speakeasy for a long time, but intend to be back now. Please, everybody with any questions, give me a shout here; especially all you folks who are emailing me direct with questions - I'd love to share my answers with the group at large. Fire away......

I thought I'd let everyone know about a upcoming gig in New York that should be enjoyable. My quartet (Ricky Germanson, piano; Hans Glawischnig, bass; Neal Smith, drums) plus special guest Miguel Zenon (alto) will be performing Thu. Dec. 12th at the Jazz Gallery, Hudson & Spring Sts., Manhattan. First set starts at 9 PM, I believe... come on down & say hi!

Hi Brian,

What do you find more important: Gerbils or retsin?

Have you received the Round Man?

How does the word "egoless" sit with you?

I'm just kidding - Some JC-lingo for ya...Like Uli said:

Welcome back!

I'll think of some real questions for you later. Robin, Dennis, Ellery, and Brian - woo hoo!
